The BIOCARD Study is enrolling new participants. By increasing the number of study participants, it will be possible to answer additional questions that are not feasible with a smaller sample size. It is additionally important for our research to include a broad spectrum of people. In this era of precision medicine, we need to understand of the earliest phases of AD in people with different biological and genetic characteristics in order to develop improved treatments and dementia prevention strategies that are individually tailored.
Who Can Participate?
The BIOCARD Study is seeking volunteers who meet the following criteria:
- Age 50-70
- Cognitively unimpaired
- Willing and able to complete the study procedures described below
Individuals interested in volunteering are first asked to complete a phone questionnaire to assess eligibility. Once enrolled in the study, volunteers are asked to complete annual visits with the BIOCARD Study team.
The following procedures are completed every year:
- Clinical assessments
- Cognitive assessments
- Collection of blood
The following procedures are completed approximately every other year:
- Structural magnetic resonance imaging scan
- Amyloid positron emission tomography scan

The BIOCARD Study covers study-related travel expenses and provides modest honoraria for each completed study procedure.
